Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 14, 2026
Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how StartupCFO collects, uses, stores, and shares information when you use our website, financial workspace, connected-account tools, reports, projections, AI-assisted features, and Investor Portal. It applies to founders, team members, investors, and visitors who interact with the service.
Information we collect
Depending on the features you use, we may collect:
- Account information, including your name, email address, profile image, authentication identifiers, and organization membership.
- Company and financial information, including bank account metadata, balances, transactions, categories, vendors, products, projections, reports, and business assumptions.
- Files and content you upload, including financial models, investor materials, corporate records, and notes.
- Information from services you choose to connect, such as Plaid or Stripe, subject to the permissions you grant through those services.
- Communications you send to us, including support requests and feedback.
- Technical information needed to operate and protect the service, such as device, browser, session, log, and request information.
How we use information
We use information to:
- Provide, maintain, personalize, and improve StartupCFO.
- Import and organize financial activity, calculate metrics, prepare reports, and build projections requested by you.
- Authenticate users, enforce organization permissions, prevent fraud, and protect the service.
- Operate Investor Portals and deliver the materials and views a founder chooses to share.
- Respond to support requests, send service notices, and administer subscriptions.
- Comply with law, enforce our agreements, and investigate misuse or security concerns.
We do not sell personal information or use financial data for advertising.
AI-assisted features
StartupCFO may send selected transaction descriptions, company context, or founder prompts to AI service providers when you use AI-assisted categorization, explanation, or planning features. We limit the data provided to what is reasonably needed for the requested feature. AI output may be incomplete or inaccurate, so classifications, recommendations, and projections should be reviewed before use.
Service providers and disclosures
We use service providers to operate StartupCFO, including providers for authentication, cloud application and database services, connected financial accounts, payments, email delivery, and AI processing. These providers process information for us under their own terms and privacy commitments. Current product integrations include Clerk, Convex, Plaid, Stripe, Resend, and OpenRouter where the related feature is used.
We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights or safety, in connection with a business transaction, or with your direction or consent. We do not give investors access to a founder workspace merely because they use StartupCFO.
Investor Portal sharing
Founders control what is published to an Investor Portal and whether a link is open, email-gated, invitation-only, or subject to approval. A portal may include company story, aggregate financial information, projections, and selected documents. Anyone who receives an active share link may be able to access the published material, so founders should review portal settings and documents before sharing.
Retention and deletion
We retain information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain legitimate business and security records, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. Retention can vary by data type and by the status of your account. You may request account or data deletion, subject to records we must retain or information maintained in backups for a limited operational period.
Security
We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for protecting your login credentials, managing organization access, and selecting appropriate Investor Portal settings. See our Security page for more detail.
Your choices and rights
You can update certain account and organization information in the service, disconnect integrations, change sharing controls, or contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of personal information. We will evaluate requests under applicable law and may need to verify your identity and authority over the relevant organization.
International use and children
StartupCFO and its providers may process information in countries other than where you live. StartupCFO is intended for business users and is not directed to children under 13. Do not submit a child's personal information to the service.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the service or applicable requirements change. We will post the updated date on this page and provide additional notice when appropriate.
